Dracu Riot partial patch

The current progress on Dracu Riot is exactly as indicated on the project page. With the exception of Miu’s route, which is an insignificant ~200 lines in, the rest of the routes are complete.

Despite my intention of retiring, I still wish to see the completion of Miu’s route–she was a major factor in making me choose this game, and I do feel extremely guilty that hers would be the only one untranslated.

The fact remains that there is no time for me to work on her route during the semester. Certainly, I may have time during my summer holidays, but that’s also prime time to touch up on one’s employability skills through internships, vacation programs and volunteer work.

Nevertheless, if I had any time to work on the game, it would probably be during summer. But that is far from a guarantee. As such, the future of this project will be determined in three stages.

1. Parties interested in the acquisition of the current project or the completion of the remaining route may contact us by 30th September. Should we find a suitable candidate, we will announce the news.

2. If we are unable to secure a future for Dracu Riot with a reputable or reliable candidate by 1st October, the script files for Miu’s route will be released to the general public for other interested parties.

3. If, by 1st December there are no active or meaningful attempts at translating Miu’s route, I may come out of retirement to work on her route. However, the likelihood of me finding time to work on the game will only decrease year by year. In light of this, if I am unable to give one last attempt at the end of the year, we will stop beating the dead horse, release the remaining routes, and announce the official death of the project.

We can be contacted through our email,

Here is the partial patch. It contains Elina’s route.

In pursuit of greater pleasures

It’s with great sadness and regret that I have to type this post. Two months ago, the thought had never occurred to me that I’d have to someday write up a post like this. In fact, I was already planning the next project and going over the possible options. But things have turned a complete 180 since then, and those ambitions have all but disappeared.

With my second year of uni almost coming to an end, I’ve been hit with a few reality checks. One of them being my resume. The last four years have consisted almost exclusively of fan translation. With pretty much nothing else of marketable value, I feel that my employment prospects are fairly discouraging, to say the least. Much less finding a graduate position at one of the Big 4, any hope of a position at an established financial services firm is more or less zero given how graduate screening works.

In order to rescue my resume and my future, I concluded that something had to stop. With my anime and vn backlogs reaching a record high already, translating, being a side hobby in the first place, seems almost silly given the current circumstances.

Also, after recently getting into a relationship, I’ve found it more and more difficult to balance real life commitments with what goes on online. At times, when I get asked ‘What do you do in your free time?’, I’m almost embarrassed to say that I spend it translating porn games. Not a position anyone would want to be in.

It has been a good run. Going from not being able to understand a word of Japanese in anime to being actively involved in making Japanese media more accessible to West, I feel that I’ve come a long way. From the days where it would take days for your favourite episodes to be subbed (during which I would always wait anxiously for new episodes to be posted on video streaming sites), we now have simulcasts bringing subtitled releases within hours.

I sincerely hope that someday, just like anime and manga, the eroge medium will gain more exposure and attract more attention from fans and localisation companies alike. I’d like to think that I’ve made a positive difference during my time in the VN community. Amidst all the drama and controversy over the last couple of years, I think there were definitely positives in my experience. Whilst I cannot deny that perhaps there were better ways to utilise my time, my time as a fan translator will be one of the things that I look fondly upon.

All good things must come to an end, however. Whilst I cannot feel guilty enough about the unfinished work I’ve left behind, and the promises that I’ve broken, I believe my chapter has come to a close. I would like to thank personally all the people I’ve worked with and all those that donated to us over the years; we used every single cent of it on the website. Thank you for all the support and I hope that one day, I will return to the scene.

Detailed information on Dracu Riot will be announced on the 9th, along with the future of the project.

Miu was the character that prompted me to choose the game, and it pains me greatly that I never got around to finishing her route. Whilst work on the game has stalled indefinitely, I will not retire without knowing that the game is in good hands.

Ootori Mahiro | Seieki Jaguchi | Semen Faucet [June 25th]

Couldn’t find a good image for this post, so we just went with the credits page. This one happened on a whim, but hey, we promised we’d do some more manga (in the previous status post), right?

Consider this as a parting gift, because I’ll be catching a flight tomorrow morning. Will be back early August. Toodles. Dracu-Riot status has also been updated.

E-Hentai (if you get sad-panda’d above)
